Human beings are conflict creatures, for us, there always has to be an other, another group, another team, another country, another tribe, another race. Only then do we thrive in being US. We are constantly looking for new reasons to feel special. Differentiate from the others. Our Greatest achievements were done in an attempt to out do the others, the soviets launched Sputnik into space to show the Americans they were bette. The same Americans literaly went to the moon and back to beat the soviets.
Competitiveness is in our dna, an adaptation our ancestors needed in the savannas of Africa millions of years ago to survive, maybe we got nature to blame. Survival of the fittest -whatever that means- is the real driving force for us homo sapiens.
No wonder we've carved up the planet into "Places you were lucky to be born into" otherwise known as countries. And decided, some sections were more important than others. We found a way to land 170,000 men from all corners of the world on Europe in total secret on d-day. But we cant stop millions of little children from dying of hunger and totally curable deseases each year. That's why we exterminate each other for no reason. Our most advanced technology are those used to kill our fellow men, like leave it to us to find creative ways to kill/win/out do the "others".
A species like this doesn't deserve the conquer the universe. At least not until we really change our... Hm... How do i put this...? Our tendancy to fucking destroy anything and everything that gets between us and our comfort , that includes the comfort of other people, animals, environments, you name it. if it exists, we'll Fuck it up.
